Artist statement
Sculpture is my tool to precisely express what I find essentially important.
My sculptures are a subjective interpretation of a peculiar inner state. In a pursuit of a suitable form of expression I rely on my intuition and personal feelings.
To express my ideas in the language of sculptural art I like to experiment with the volume, making it raw, pure and evocative.
I try to capture, interpret and convey the beauty according to my artistic vision, often by simplifying elements or melting them together into a harmonious fretwork.
Hardly any artist is ever satisfied with their work. But the displeasure with my work I see as a driver of my creativity. This anxiety, dissatisfaction with one's pursuits, pushes an artistic individual to new ideas, to the hunt for
new opportunities and new materials.
Stone, wood, marble are natural materials and, therefore, are already beautiful and perfect as they are, inviting to be touched, felt, even listened to. Natural materials often suggest ideas for my artworks, and as an artist, I just need to hear the whisper of the stone and try to gently peel off everything superfluous.
The infinite versatility observed in nature is a never-ending source of my inspiration. I like to learn about natural objects and phenomena that people usually overlook in everyday life and which I, on the contrary, find fabulously and inconceivably perfect.
Sculpture is an ever-
lasting longing to find the ultimate tool and way to comprehensively express my reflections about the world, people and myself. The world is changing, and so are we, which reflects in art: based on my experience, I formulate my vision of the future – in the form of ideas and
sculptures/objects.
I am convinced that sculpture has a powerful influence on our mindset and attitudes; it is a means to reveal the inner potential of the viewer. If someone takes a minute to reflect on the work that I created, I cannot think of a greater artistic accomplishment.
Sculpture is an ever-lasting longing to find the ultimate tool and way to comprehensively express my reflections about the world, people and myself.
